How To Paint: DIY Kit: Tree Stack

Check out the video tutorial for more in-depth instructions and views ---> https://youtu.be/NwwW218z1dc

Hello friends! In this tutorial I am going to show you how to take your blank DIY tree kit and create one like I did in the picture above.

You can also purchase just the file of the kit if you happen to have your own laser cutting machine here: https://www.originallywornonline.com/svgfiles

If you order a kit from me it will will be cut from 1/8" MDF and contain 3 tree sets (front and back) and 4 bases (top and bottom). Set up, but unpainted they look like this. An extra base set is included just incase you happen to snap one while placing it on a tree.

You will also need: -Glue, paint, and a paintbrush. I specifically used these products that are not included in the kit but available at most retailers.

Apple Barrel Matt Acrylic Paint in:

-Flamenco Red -Black -Admiral Blue -English Ivy green -Antique Parchment

Gorilla Wood Glue

Various small craft paint brushes.

For your first step you will need to paint the backer in your chosen color. I painted them in a hit and miss or distressed look.

I painted the 18” tree with English Ivy Green.

The 16” tree is painted with Flemenco Red.

The 10” tree combined the Black and Admiral Blue to create a night sky feel.

Then I used a stiff brush and the Antique Parchment color to flick white dots or “stars” all over.

Once the backers are painted, I painted the bases, edges & fronts with the white color, Antique Parchment, in a distressed style.

Once the paint is dry, I lightly glued the front to the back and slid the trees into the bases.

(Check out the video for more details on this if needed.) All done!

I think I will put a set on my mantel and maybe give some as gifts this year!

Hope you enjoyed this project!
